Amey Directors raise £7000 for Helen Douglas house

In July this year five directors from the Oxford based company Amey raised £7000 for Helen Douglas House, a centre in Oxford providing respite and end of life care for children and adults with life shortening conditions. The Amey team cycled 240miles from London to Paris over the course of three days finishing at the Arc de Triomph.

Amey, one of the UK’s leading public services companies has been based in Oxford for nearly 90 years when William Amey set up a quarrying company in Wootton, Oxfordshire in 1921. The company today, still based in Oxford, employs around 11,000 across more than 200 locations and around 1000 People in Oxfordshire.

Keith Sexton HSEQ Director for Amey said “240 miles to Paris in three days seemed easy sitting comfortably at my desk in April. Slightly saddle sore, 239 miles and three months later, the knowledge that we were raising money for such a worthy cause got me the final mile to the Arc de Triomph.”

筹集的资金将会显著的帮助further improve respite and end of life care along with helping to provide support and friendship for the whole family. The two hospice houses are bright, vibrant and positive places, where the emphasis is on living life to the full, even when that life may be short. Children can stay at Helen House and young adults can stay at Douglas House, along with their families, for short periods of time for rest and recuperation, treatment of distressing symptoms, end of life care and support.
