Justice Sevices

We’re creating better communities by supporting the people who safeguard society and reduce reoffending. Our services help keep the nation’s justice system on course.

We do all of this by working through our joint ventures, prisoner transportation and facilities management teams. These teams provide a range of services from planning and providing secure prisoner transportation to maintaining courthouses, prisons and secure premises.

Creating better justice services

We should all feel safe where we live and work. We work with our partners, local community organisations and charities to:

  • Create safe, secure environments– for interviews, witnesses and offenders
  • Put wellbeing first– for everyone in our care

FM of secure premises

We’re supporting our justice clients, including the Ministry of Defence, Avon and Somerset Courts, and Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS). We do this by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons, government headquarter buildings and courts.

We help our clients make best use of their space and focus on what matters, by using our facilities management expertise to keep their secure premises running smoothly. And we make sure their buildings work harder for them by taking care of things ‘behind the scenes’, from temperature control, planned and reactive maintenance jobs, to cleaning, grounds and security services.

  • 61 sitesmanaged on behalf of HMPPS across the North East, North West, East, West Midlands and Wales
  • 271, 607planned maintenance tasks and340,076reactive maintenance tasks carried out by our prisons TFM teams in 2016/17

Prisoner escorting

We provide secure prisoner escort and custody services on behalf of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) as part of our GeoAmey joint venture company.

We manage cell and dock areas in over 220 courts in the UK. And carry out the reliable and efficient planning; logistics and secure vehicle movements that make sure those in our care are where they need to be.

This means carefully organising and undertaking safe transport from prisons and police stations to courthouse suites, and back again - with compassion and the safety and wellbeing of all parties a priority. And we’re transforming the delivery of services by working in partnership with organisations and people from across the justice system, as well as charities such Mind, to develop our officer training programme.

  • 500purpose-designed custody vehicles travel over5 millionmiles a year
  • 10,500prisoner movements every week
  • 100court docks managed daily

Youth transportation

Through GeoAmey, we’re also providing secure escort services for children and young people on behalf of the Youth Justice Board (YJB). Our specialist team has the skills, training and experience to accompany youngsters under the age of 18 while they are in our care – with specific attention to their protection and wellbeing.

But our commitment to justice goes beyond transport. We work with the police, local authorities, charities and Youth Offending Team to break the cycle of offending. Our work with the charity Prison Me! No Way! helps deter young people from the wrong path by raising awareness about the causes, consequences and impact of crime – and by showing them what life could be like in a custodial environment.

  • 30vehicles designed specifically for the transportation of children and young people.
