Amey Consulting has been awarded an ‘Initiative of the Year Award’ by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for its Future Office Initiative.

Amey Consulting’s winning project focused on understanding the impact of homeworking during the Covid-19 pandemic on employee wellbeing and how the Covid-19 pandemic may affect its future offices.

“未来Office Initiative’ sought to understand the impact of homeworking on employees and their wellbeing, for example the effect it might have on work-life imbalance, lack of knowledge exchange and social isolation. Over 1,000 employees took part in a bespoke, research-driven survey. This allowed Amey Consulting to provide tailored support to employees and enhanced managerial support. Among the subsequent activities was a bespoke 2-hour wellbeing event delivered to all employees and line managers in late 2020 by industry experts.

The survey also sought to understand what the future of work, offices and longer-term employee welfare might look like by identifying what employees perceive to be the optimum mix of home and office working. In addition to this, the survey considered how the office of the future could best be physically designed to facilitate face-to-face interactions and ensure that organisational culture, professional relationships, collaboration and innovation can be maintained and enhanced.

Rob Doyle, HSEQ Director, Amey Consulting, said: “We know that homeworking during the Covid-19 pandemic has been difficult for many people, and it was important to us that we understood the impact it has had on our employees and how we can best mitigate these. I am hugely proud that the business has again been independently recognised for our collective efforts as we continue to push the boundaries on health, safety and wellbeing improvement.”

RoSPA’s achievements Director Julia Small, said: “The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after achievement awards for health and safety worldwide. RoSPA is very proud of the achievements of its entrants, and with this award we recognise the best of the best, those organisations that have gone the extra mile, raising the bar for the delivery of safety in the workplace. Employees, wherever they may be able to go to work safe in the knowledge that they will return home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day”.

It is Amey Consulting’s second RoSPA success, having received a RoSPA President’s Award for a third consecutive year in June.

It is also the second year running that Amey Consulting has won the ‘Initiative of the Year Award’, bagging the ‘ThinkSafe’ project award in 2020.
