John re-joined Amey in 2023 as Chief Operating Officer.
As a chartered civil engineer, John’s impressive career spans nearly 30 years. He has a wealth of experience in infrastructure, transport and outsourcing markets, managing strategy, corporate development, operational improvement and business change.
John has highly effective leadership skills and is well-versed in senior executive management. He has a deep understanding of strategy, business planning and mergers and acquisitions, coupled with the innate ability to create consensus, resolve disputes, bring people together, and build collaboration between teams.
In his role as Chief Operating Officer and a member of the executive committee, John is focused on business growth and works with shareholders to drive more informed asset management and infrastructure planning to enhance our capabilities with new and existing customers.
Prior to joining Amey, John held Board Advisory roles and senior positions in the UK government, including the Department for Transport, Prime Minister’s Deliver Unit and National Highways.
John gained a degree in civil engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and was awarded the title of Chartered Engineer from the Institution of Civil Engineers.
