We provide consultancy and design services to major infrastructure and local authority clients, enabling them to manage the transport networks and infrastructure assets that are vital to the sustainable growth of the country.

We bring together a unique partnership of operational and design expertise, which means our plans, designs and solutions are shaped by our knowledge and experience of working across complex infrastructure networks. We take time to listen to our clients, asking the right questions to understand their problems and immerse ourselves in their world. By doing this we create genuine efficiencies through innovative design solutions. We work across a range of markets, providing clients such as National Highways (formerly Highways England), Network Rail and Transport Scotland, Department for Infrastructure (NI) and Transport for Wales with integrated services across: Highways, Rail, Environment, Property and Aviation.

Highways Design

Our approach sees engineers, designers and consultants working hand-in-hand with operational specialists to deliver highways design projects for key clients.

We’re passionate about making a difference to society, having recently designed the ‘UK’s first’ carbon neutral road improvement project - an £8m National Highways carriageway reconstruction in Cumbria, reducing carbon by up to 43% compared to traditional solutions and saving almost £3m.

Rail Design

Our design team deliver asset management, engineering design and operational delivery solutions to the country’s largest rail operators, infrastructure owners, and providers, including Network Rail and Transport for Wales. We solve complex rail challenges and deliver bespoke, customer-centric solutions.

Working on the £6bn project, Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) between Manchester and Leeds, Amey is combining our multi-disciplinary capabilities in rail design and systems as well as operational delivery.

Environment

Our Consultants provide environmental expertise to support clients with their net zero commitments across transport infrastructure projects. Our teams specialise in reducing carbon footprint across our solutions, ensuring our industry is challenging and tackling climate change.

We’re currently supporting HS2 plant 171,610 native woodland trees to restore agricultural land, creating diverse ecological habitats from Uxbridge, London to Southam, Warwickshire, including the creation of a ‘bat motorway’.

Property

We provide commercial estate expertise to property owners across UK infrastructure, blending our knowledge of commercialisation and asset management. We work with clients to utilise customer traffic moving through their properties, whether it’s transport, tourism, healthcare or local government.

Aviation

Our airport infrastructure capabilities range from design and asset management services to multi-million pound runway development projects. Working with clients such as Heathrow and Birmingham Airports, we enable whole life cost optimisation whilst achieving operational excellence and meeting their sustainability goals.

With Heathrow’s plan to increase passenger capacity from 70 million to 130 million by 2040, our team has to develop and embed an asset management system and achieve ISO55000 certification.
