Amey hands over employability facility to Wolverhampton

Amey’s specialist projects team has successfully handed over the newly refurbished Molineux House Jobcentre to the Department of Work and Pensions. The building, which now has enhanced accessibility and energy solutions – will deliver improved employability services for residents of Wolverhampton.

The project is the latest Amey has delivered through Trance 1 of the DWP Framework. A key objective of the scheme was to ensure the building was Equality Act compliant. This meant ensuring all areas were accessible for people with a range of disabilities, making appropriate adjustments including power assisted doors, and grab bars and lowered sink units in welfare areas.

The facility delivers a number of services to the local community including Job Centre Plus, Black Country Service Centre and Working Age. These help to prepare individuals for work and offer support through schemes such as work placement programmes.

The project also delivered a number of energy transition solutions for the client including LED lighting and efficient heating solutions. This will not only help manage consumption and spend but will also contribute towards Net Zero carbon targets. Now visitors to the Jobcentre will be greeted with newly refurbished facilities which will not only improve the customer experience but help create a greener footprint for the DWP.

Sangita Pamar, DWP Business support, “From start to finish, Amey were professional, quick to get the work started, making sure that Health and Safety of staff in the office was never compromised. Amey were considerate and understanding to our business needs, keeping noise levels to a minimum wherever possible and working out of hours if the noise levels became too disruptive.”

Amey Business Director, Ian Warren, commented: “The DWP is a key client of Amey’s, and we understand the importance of working collaboratively to help achieve the right solutions for our customers and their estates. These centres offer a vital service to the local people of Wolverhampton and Amey is proud to be part of these regeneration works.”

The project was handed over this month and will be the 5th project the framework delivery team have delivered on behalf of the client.
