Putting essential skills at the heart of young people programmes

The skills sit between basic (literacy, numeracy and digital) and technical (operationally specific). These skills are particularly important for those in their early careers.
It is crucial that employers give these young people the opportunity to develop essential skills within their employment – to help level the playing field.
