Festive hampers with impact
As an extra thank you for our employees hard work and commitment during a challenging 2020, Amey’s Executive team decided to deliver to the homes of all 15,500 employees a festive treat hamper, packed full of goodies - the perfect opportunity to support UK SMEs and to 'buy social'
What did we do?
We wanted the Festive Hamper contents to reflect the commitment to procuring from SMEs and social enterprises. We partnered with worked Tordoffs who sourced products from organisations including:
- “在废墟中红宝石”一个助教的社会企业kes imperfect fruit and veg and turns them into relishes and chutneys
- “Graces Chocolates” who provide work opportunities to women who have a previous conviction in Scotland
- “Sweet Moment Cakes” a small business based in Northallerton which works with local suppliers to produce a range of cakes.
Amey also worked with social enterprise supplier “Royal British Legion Industries” (RBLI) to help pack the hampers.
What was the impact?
In early December 2020 Amey employees across the UK received their Festive Hampers delivered to their homes with a booklet detailing the SMEs and social enterprises involved.
Four hundred (400) of Amey employees chose to donate their hampers to charity, with 350 going to local Trussell Trust Foodbanks across the UK and 50 to homeless veterans being helped by the RBLI.

We know that the food bank clients who are lucky enough to get one of these will be thrilled to bits with them as they will really help to brighten up this difficult time of year for those who are struggling to feed themselves and their families. The incredibly generous donation from Ferrovial of £19,000 at the start of the pandemic, has been, and continues to be, a lifeline enabling us to buy in food in bulk to ensure that no food parcel lacks any essential item.
